FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – A social services group in Fort Wayne will start helping local homeless veterans.
The Shepherds House is opening a veteran’s wing, which will include 8-beds, a living room, a kitchen and a dining room.

The wing is designed to give homeless vets a warm place to stay and help them find work.
But Shepherds House staff members say more help is needed.
Shepherd’s House Founder Barb Cox says, “I need elevator repairs, I need a sprinkler system installed. I need some little things, to the tune of $60,000, but I seriously need more space. Because there is a massive problem. There is no place for homeless veterans, and when there is, it’s not a home setting and that’s just not going to do.”
The Shepherds House provides support services to the uninsured and unemployed.
